Welcome to AdorablyDolly! I am so happy you stopped by. My husband and I are devoted to family; in our nearly 40 years of marriage, we raised four children and have been blessed with ten (and counting) grandchildren. We love our home and family and enjoy projects that complement our loves.
My husband is from England where we spent the first years of our married life. While expecting our first child we each took an evening class; he made a cradle, and I made an heirloom christening gown. That challenged my skills yet the result has had much use. My confidence grew as I sewed maternity dresses, little overalls, and my first quilt. Shortly after returning to the US, I learned to sew knit fabrics. A new world of toddler t-shirts opened up. When our daughter became a competing gymnast, I used those stretching and sewing skills to make leotards and ran a popular little business. I continue to find sewing satisfaction in piecing and quilting quilts.
Recently, our grandchildren were together, and I noticed the younger ones were very intrigued by their cousins’ American Girl dolls and wanted to know about their imaginary lives. Wishing to step into their world and feed the enchantment, I collected a few dolls to use as models then fashioned some elegant costumes for the older girls’ dolls and some adorable, simple-to-manipulate outfits for the youngsters. Once I started sewing petite apparel, I found immense satisfaction! The clothes have been well received locally, and I found encouragement to open an Etsy shop and share the joy.
